1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AttaBoy ("AttaBoy," "we," "us") — a native macOS application for capturing spoken ideas, transcribing them on-device, organizing notes, and optionally enriching them with AI you configure.
By downloading, installing, or using AttaBoy, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. The service
AttaBoy provides, among other features:
- Real-time speech transcription using on-device models (WhisperKit on Apple Silicon)
- Optional capture of system or call audio when you grant Screen Recording permission and choose to record
- Local storage of notes, transcripts, bullet points, tasks, and related metadata
- Optional account-based sync across your devices via Supabase when you sign in with email
- Optional AI features when you provide your own API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Mistral, and others supported in the app)
- Export to Markdown, PDF, clipboard, or email draft at your request
- Optional integration with Calendar and Reminders when you grant permission and use scheduling features
- Software updates delivered outside the Mac App Store via Sparkle
AttaBoy is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may change, be added, or be removed as the product evolves.
3. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use AttaBoy. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Creating an account is optional. If you sign in with email, we send a one-time code to verify your address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email secure and for activity under your account.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the audio you speak, transcripts, notes, tasks, and other content you create in AttaBoy ("Your Content").
By using optional cloud sync, you instruct us to store and process Your Content on our sync infrastructure (Supabase) solely to provide sync and related account features. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriate use of Your Content, including when exporting or sharing it outside the app.
5. Bring your own API keys (BYOK)
AI features require API keys you obtain from third-party providers. Keys are stored in your Mac's Keychain and sent directly from your device to the provider you select. AttaBoy does not host inference on our servers.
Your use of third-party AI services is subject to each provider's terms and pricing. You are responsible for all charges, quotas, and compliance obligations with those providers. We are not liable for outages, errors, or policy changes by AI vendors.
6. Software updates
AttaBoy may automatically check for updates and download them with your consent or based on your system settings. Updates are distributed from attaboy.app using Sparkle. You agree that updates may be required to continue using the app safely.
7. Disclaimers
Transcription and AI output. Speech recognition, speaker detection, summaries, and AI-generated text may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on AttaBoy as the sole record for legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
No professional advice. AttaBoy does not provide legal, medical, or other professional advice.
Sync conflicts. When cloud sync is enabled, conflicts are resolved on a last-write-wins basis. You are responsible for maintaining backups of important content.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AttaBoy shall not be liable not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app.
Our total liability for any claim relating to AttaBoy shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. AttaBoy is currently offered as a direct download; if no fee was paid, clause (b) applies.
9. Termination
You may stop using AttaBoy at any time by uninstalling the app and, if applicable, signing out of your account. We may suspend or terminate access to sync or other online features if you violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence apply.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on attaboy.app/terms with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
